I promise I can write

So I guess that whole once a week thing isn't really working out. But right now there isn't really much to update!

Last weekend Caleb and I went to mom's for her birthday. Lindsay had mentioned that we should take Caleb to the zoo...and crazy me thought it might be fun to take Lindsay's nephew Max too. I guess it wasn't all that good of an idea to take 2 toddler's! Luckily, Melissa came with us and was helpful. We took my brother's too, but I felt bad for them. They were very good, but because of the little ones we really didn't get to see that much. I guess next time just one little one, because the two of them together didn't get along very well. (Or at least next time they should have their own strollers...putting the two of them together lasted for all of, oh, 5 minutes. I sort of made dinner for mom's birthday Saturday night, even though mom did half of it, because I wanted to make her dorito casserole and didn't totally know how. But I think I can make it on my own now...so yay!
My car had to go into the shop on Friday, so that was fairly expensive. We had to have a bunch of maintenance stuff done, plus there was a leak coming from somewhere (I guess the brake fluid?) and there was a cap that needed fixing...all together costing like $360 (because we had a $40 discount...yay discounts!).

Not much else is going on here. Going up to Bob's parents for Labor day weekend I think, so that should be fun. Trying to convince Tyler to go to a musical for my birthday..he's grumbley, but says we can go see Wicked! (It's not til December, but hey!)

I guess that's it for now.

New(ish)

So I've decided to restart this blog thing for anyone who cares to know what's going on with me. I figure I talk to most people who would want to know this stuff, but sadly not as frequently anymore. So here goes!

I guess the first thing is housing stuff. Tyler and I have officially started the process to look for a house. I spoke to a realtor that one of my coworkers recommended and he set up a website that has houses that meet with what we're looking for. So far we're just in the looking phase, but I'm glad we're at least doing that! Our lease is up at the end of October. Tyler talked to the leasing office today, and if we want to go on a month to lease, we have to pay an extra $150 a month, and that's definitely an expense we don't need! And we don't want to sign another year lease on this place. We want our own place!

The next thing I guess is my dieting/weight loss stuff. I started doing weight watchers at the end of January and lost about 30 lbs, but when I kind of plateaued wasn't following it all that well, I stopped losing eight, but at least I had already lost all the pregnancy weight (plus a few extra!) So about 2 weeks ago I started the South Beach Diet, and I've lost another 9 lbs! As much as I miss carbs, I don't miss that extra weight. Plus starting Monday I get to slowly add back "good carbs" to my diet--fruit, whole grains, starchy veggies. After I lose a few more lbs I'm going to treat myself to some new, and hopefully smaller, clothes. I'm not really happy with my appearance yet, but I'm happier, so that's a start.

Caleb just keeps getting bigger! I can't believe he's already 17 months old. At his 15 month appointment, he was already like 26 lbs, so he'll probably be close to 30 when he goes back for his 18 month! Yipes! It definitely comes from my side of the family, not Tyler's. He can say a few words, even a few in Spanish, and he knows some sign language. He's really mobile too! He runs everywhere, no time for walking.

So I guess that's about it. I'm going to try about once a week to post something, so hopefully I can hold myself to that. Apparently in my settings, I was only letting members post before, so I think I have it set up now that anyone can post!
